Strings and woodwinds happy that concerts will resume after our Covid hiatus.

The North Cascades Community Orchestra is part of the North Cascades Music Society, a volunteer nonprofit organization bringing music within the reach of all members of our community. We are an all-volunteer orchestra numbering more than 40 musicians 18 years of age and over, from all backgrounds and skill levels. We require no auditions to join, just a shared love of music and enthusiasm for bringing classical music to our community.

Our Mission

• To enrich the community by providing diverse, quality, and affordable musical experiences for musicians and audience members.• To provide educational opportunities which build and support music appreciation.
• To offer these musical experiences and educational opportunities in a friendly, noncompetitive environment.

If you are interested in joining NCCO and have questions, please send us a note to let us know!

Rehearsals and Concert Season

Our performance season runs from September through April or May with one concert in December and another at the end of the Spring session. The season is split into two semesters, Fall and Spring, with musicians welcome to play one or both semesters. Some of our musicians also get together outside of scheduled rehearsals to either practice as a section or to just enjoy playing music together!

Nick Strobel, Artistic Director

Nick Strobel

The Orchestra welcomes Nick Strobel as Music Director and Conductor of our Winter Concert 2023.

Nick Strobel was an original founder of NCCO, until he began his teaching career in Music and Orchestra at Bellingham High School. He was principal cellist of the Bellingham Symphony for several years, succeeding Chip Bergeron, who in turn succeeded Nick as Music Director at NCCO until his retirement this past spring. We are delighted that Nick has returned to lead our Orchestra.
